Paul Richardson, one of the more sports inclined residents of the English village of Martin Dales, has achieved a major accolade in the British Jet Ski championships. Martin Dales is a small village near Woodhall Spa in the East Midlands county of Lincolnshire. A jet ski is a type of personal water craft that can be ridden at a top speed of around sixty miles per hour. Like motor cars and bikes, jet skis can be used for casual riding around on the water, or in competitions.
Not many people from Martin Dales will have ridden a jet ski, apart from Paul Richardson and a small number of others. They are powered by jets of water which enable them to go fast and undertake tricky manoeuvres in the hands of a skilled driver. There are stand up jet skis and sit down jet skis. Some of them can carry three people, but most jet skis are for one person.
Freestyle is one of the techniques carried out by Paul Richardson, the jet skier from Martin Dales. It is very much like surfing, where the wave is ridden as a surfer would do on a surfboard. The wave can also be used as a ramp from which to jump and perform stunts in the air. The term 're-entry’ is used to describe how a rider propels their craft from the top of a wave and goes back down on to the wave and carries on riding it.
